Blaine July 4th {Parade}

Here are a few photos from the Blaine, WA Fourth of July parade. I didn’t take a whole bunch mainly because I wanted to really enjoy the parade and being constantly behind the camera doesn’t always allow you to be fully present. Fellow photogs I’m sure you can sympathize with me here. So anyhoo here’s what I got….Last year was my first time visiting during this season and I obviously enjoyed it enough to come back again this year!This little town was packed!! They have an open car show with some really awesome cars. There are tons of things for the kids, free live music, great food, and vendors galore! Oh and did I mention the perfect weather, nothing but blue skies and a cool breeze!And it begins with the most important thing…a tribute to our military….past, present, and fallen.As they walked carrying the banners of the fallen soldiers they were surrounded by the sounds of everyone…I mean EVERYONE…standing and clapping them on. The most moving thing I’ve ever witnessed hands down.

I loved the horses!!Then came all the cool old trucks and cars. Afterwards we stopped and bought some roasted nuts. Oh my….they were fantastic!!My sister and niece.Hey look that’s me!They bought us matching shirts!!And to complete my Fourth of July outfit, my blue/white striped Toms. The edit makes them look washed out but they’re a darker blue. I got lots of compliments about them! Thanks Katie from Sobo Fashion Lounge in Fort Worth, TX. If you need Toms go see her!!

Worship on the Square {Granbury}

Tonight tonight tonight!!!

I will be taking photos and enjoying music and worship in Granbury on the Square! If you’re able to come I’d love to see you’re beautiful face there!

The event starts at 7pm and goes until 9pm. It’s sure to be a wonderful evening outdoors!

Debra Camp Ministries is leading the worship and she’ll have other artists there as well. So come out, bring the family and friends, and have fun!! See you there!

Ready to Go!

It’s finally official! Meaning, the tickets have been bought! I’ll be in Washington for 5 whole weeks this summer!!! I leave June 19th and return July 24th. I am so beyond ready for a change of scenery and to see my family up there!! Yes, to any family/friends reading this down here, I will miss you! But geez I see YOU all the time! haha

I leave from Dallas Love Field and layover in Albuquerque, NM long enough to hopefully use the restroom, get a bite to eat, and board. Then have a long flight to Sea/Tac where my sister will pick me up and we’ll begin the long 2 1/2 hr drive to Birch Bay.  Total it’s about 6 hours of travel, not including the time change. When we get home my body will think it’s close to 11pm but it will actually be closer to 9pm.

Holy stinkin cow I can’t wait to get there!! I do plan on trying to get some paid sessions while I’m there. Not too many, but it’s so gorgeous up there I want to get a few. I did the last time I was there. I met a family at the pool who had just adopted a sweet little girl to add to the 3 boys they had of their own. I couldn’t help but strike up a conversation and ask if they had a full family photo since receiving their newest blessing. The mother, C, said no and we quickly started planning on how we would make this happen when we were both only in town to visit family for the 4th of July. Luckily we worked it out and had fun driving up to Semiahmoo Bay to take pictures.

This was our favorite from the session. They used it for their Christmas cards, too.

I will be offering special introductory packages just for the trip! Wondering how it will work out since I’ll be so far from home? Well, fortunately I’m able to be completely mobile. Wanted: 2013 Seniors in High School

For: My senior reps

Requirements: Must be energetic, outgoing, friendly, personable, and camera ready!

Are you about to be a senior in high school? Do you love having your picture taken? Are you a nice, friendly person? Do you want to get a super discount on your senior photography session and have the option to earn more rewards? If you answered yes to those questions then I’m looking for you!!!

i will be needing several high school seniors to rep their schools for me!

What this means.

  • We will have a 30 min. mini session for you at an outdoor location with 2 outfits of your choosing prior to the beginning of school. (or as early as possible)
  • I will give you 5 watermarked images to display on any social media you use: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.
  • I will stock you with marketing materials to hand out to prospects at your high school.
  • You will earn an immediate 10% off your full senior session with me.
  • For the first 3 successful referrals you will earn an additional 10% off your full session.
  • Every referral after that earns you 1pt to spend in my store at different reward check points.

P.S. When things are going really good I love to throw in extra surprises!!

My First Wedding {Part II}

There was just no way I could pack all the pictures in one post. Well, and I’ll be honest, I didn’t have all of them done at the time!!! Whew! I’m learning what work goes in to being a wedding photographer that’s for sure! I’ve really enjoyed it though, the pictures (I think) turned out really good and I’m so proud of them. Not to mention (because I totally didn’t last post) I had a great second shooter to help me out that day. Thank you Scotty for being there! Your presence alone with that second camera kept me calm! Oh and it was his first wedding to shoot, too! Man the bride sure did trust us. :)

So apparently the guys needed a little visual help in putting the ties on!Oh was it windy! Didn’t leave us with a lot of choices outside.Aren’t they all beautiful?!

The moment of truth…..will he do it?  She held her own pretty good!!They exited under a rain of bubbles.Just look at that happiness!! Can’t you just feel it!The vintage truck doing it’s final duty. Gosh I love that thing!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos as well as my commentary! I plan on starting off slow and doing 2-3 weddings per year. So if you or someone you know needs a photographer for a wedding I’m available!!

Quick little note: Just wanted to say thanks to my wonderful family/friends who knew going into this I was nervous and sent me sweet texts the day of and encouraged me all along the way. It means the world to me!!! Love you all!

My First Wedding {Part I}

I didn’t ever expect to be a wedding photographer. I mean let’s face it, that idea is very daunting!! However when friend asked fully knowing I hadn’t ever shot one (not even as a second shooter) I decided to test myself and take the plunge!! I’m soooo glad I did! Yes, leading up to it I was a frantic mess, but when the time came all that washed away and things went so well!

Is this something I’m going to continue…well…maybe on a limited amount. I’m thinking two a year haha That might be good to do until I really decide based on more experience. 

This was the verse that was on their wedding invitations. So lovely.

The ceremony was so perfect. Instead of the unity candle or sand they did a rope ceremony. I had never heard of it before this and it’s pretty cool!

Before the wedding they did not see each other but we had her come out behind him so they could say hi and talk beforehand.It was very moving to witness such love and emotions right before the big event. I had to hold back a few tears so I could keep shooting.

Grand Opening {Honey Bee Ham}

If you live in the Weatherford area you might have noticed a new sandwich shop across the parking lot from Lowe’s (where the ice cream shop used to be). It’s called Honey Bee Ham and my close friends Cody and Missy Strait opened a little over 2 months ago. I’m not being biased at all when I say their food knocks places like Subway and Which-Wich out of the water!! Not only sandwiches do they offer but soups and more!!
